Fiber Grade Polyester Chip

Fiber Grade Polyester Chip

Fiber grade polyester chip is a PET-based spinning raw material for filament and staple production: polyethylene terephthalate (PET) produced from PTA and MEG, then pelletized, crystallized and dried to a spinning-ready condition. Spinning performance is influenced by intrinsic viscosity, moisture, impurity level and lot consistency of the pet chip used. The appropriate chip grade should therefore be matched to the spinning line and end product.

The line can be selected by luster and destination. Bright chip (no TiO2) is used where higher luster is required, while semi dull polyester chip uses controlled TiO2 addition to provide a softer appearance. pet chip for filament is typically selected with IV stability and lot consistency suited to the requirements of filament spinning.

Features & Material

Key specifications include intrinsic viscosity (IV) and its stability. Fiber grade chip for standard filament and staple applications is commonly supplied around 0.64–0.68 dL/g, with the actual grade depending on the spinning process and end use. Lot certificates can report IV, carboxyl end groups (CEG), DEG content, TiO2 loading and moisture. Bright and semi dull grades are controlled according to their specified luster and TiO2 requirements, with lot-level quality control used to reduce cross-grade variation.

Practical chip handling decides half your spinning quality, which is why our delivery specifications read like process documents. Chip should be kept dry because excessive moisture can promote PET hydrolysis during melt processing and may affect IV and spinning stability. We deliver in moisture-barrier bags or bulk with sealed liner, with storage and re-drying guidance according to the applicable packaging and grade requirements. Applications: POY/FDY/DTY filament spinning, staple spinning, monofilament, and - on higher-IV builds - industrial yarn. For spinners converting to recycled content, our GRS-certified rPET chip runs on the same luster and IV grid, giving filament mills a certified recycled input without changing spinning recipes.

FAQ

Q1. What IV should I buy for filament spinning?

A: Standard apparel filament runs on 0.64–0.68 dL/g; the middle of that range suits POY and FDY, while finer deniers and higher-speed lines benefit from the upper end. Industrial and high-tenacity yarn needs higher IV builds. The rule: your spinning speed and final tenacity target decide the IV, and we match lots so the value never drifts between deliveries.

Q2. Why does pet chip for filament cost more than staple-grade chip?

A: Tolerance discipline. Filament lines run faster and finer, so IV consistency, TiO2 dispersion and dust levels are held tighter - a lot that spins staple fine can break filaments at 4,000 m/min. The price difference buys uptime, not prestige.

Q3. How should chip be stored after delivery?

A: Sealed and dry. PET absorbs moisture from air, and wet chip hydrolyzes in the extruder - IV drops, breaks rise. Barrier-packed chip has a defined storage window; beyond it, re-dry to spec before spinning. We supply re-drying parameters with every lot.

Q4. Can I get recycled chip with the same luster grades?

A: Yes. Our GRS-certified rPET chip runs the same bright and semi-dull luster grid and matched IV windows as virgin fiber grade, with transaction certificates per shipment. Spinners convert without changing luster specifications - only the compliance documents change.
